Fuse Recruitment are sourcing for an experienced commercial seamstress to work Monday to Thursday with our manufacturing client located in Greenacre. This role is temp to perm after 6 months and paying $42p/hr + Super!
The Client:
An Australian owned industry leader in their field. Specialising in Audio Visual, Events, Production and lighting systems. They work across projects for sporting venues, theatres/performing arts centre’s, schools, public precincts/conference centres, corporate facilities, parliaments, TV studios and councils.

- Monday to Thursday role! 3 day weekend!
- Day shift role working 7am to 3pm!
The Role: Seamstress
The role of the Seamstress is to modify, construct, make and mend drapes and industry associated products based on the specifications requested by the customers.
You will also utilise your experience to ensure the finished product is exceptional quality and completed within set time frames.
You may also be required to sew specialised product as per the our client’s customers’ requirements including (but not limited to) speaker and television covers.
Our client’s customers include (but not limited to) sporting venues, theatres/performing arts centre’s, houses of worship, schools, public precincts/conference centres, corporate facilities, parliaments, TV studios and councils. Their customers are a mix of end users, consultants, contractors and construction companies
Your main duties will involve:
- Accurately measuring and cutting fabric as per the project requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring the sewing of the drape/product is done to the highest of quality.
- Ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order.
- Altering of drapes as per the customers’ requirements, which may include hemming, mending etc.
- Labelling of drapes.
- Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner.
- Providing quality work for the customer.
- Using eyeleting machines, irons and over locker machines as required.
- Construction of drapes – measuring and cutting material as per the project job card
- Working collaboratively with other staff members within the team helping each other to achieve quality end product.
- Fulfil other tasks associated with the company’s core peripheral activities that your manager/s may ask you to perform.
- Completing upkeep of the sewing room ensuring it is neat and tidy and free from slip and trip hazards
The Candidate:
To be successful in obtaining this role you will have the following experience:
- Proven sewing experience making theatrical drapes.
- Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques.
- The ability to work under time constraints
- Able to operate various types of sewing machines
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Able to communicate and understand instructions
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed
- Have an initiative-taking, adaptable, and positive approach.
- Able to undertake work and operate equipment in a safe manner
