Rainbow Power Company (RPC) has been part of the Nimbin community and Australia’s renewable energy story for decades. We design, supply and install solar, battery and stand-alone power systems for homes, businesses and off-grid properties across the Northern Rivers and beyond.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Electrician to head up our on-site installation team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in quality work, keeps their crew safe, and wants their skills to make a real difference.

$50 – $70 per hour + work vehicle

About the role

As Lead Electrician, you’ll manage and supervise our on-site installation team, making sure every solar, battery and electrical installation is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard. You’ll be the main contact for site operations, provide technical leadership, and play a key part in upholding RPC’s reputation for quality and safety.

What you’ll do

- Lead, coordinate and delegate work across the on-site install team to keep projects on time and running smoothly.

- Oversee the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of solar, battery,



stand-alone and general electrical systems in line with Australian Standards and RPC quality benchmarks.

- Maintain a safe, compliant work environment in line with the RPC Workplace Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation.

- Conduct inspections and quality checks to make sure all work meets compliance and safety requirements.

- Work with our Operations and Workshop teams to improve installation processes and solve technical or logistical issues.

- Liaise with sales and project managers on site requirements, progress and system quoting.

- Keep accurate records, prepare site reports, and keep management and stakeholders updated.

- Mentor, train and support team members, building a collaborative and capable crew.

- Stay current with codes of practice, regulations and advances in solar and electrical technology.

- Manage and maintain on-site tools and equipment.

What you’ll bring

Essential licences and accreditations

- Current unrestricted Electrical Licence (Australia or New Zealand), with up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards

- Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditations for Grid-Connected, Battery and Stand-Alone Power Systems (SAPS)

- Working at Heights ticket

- Construction Induction (White) Card

- Current driver’s licence

- Current First Aid and CPR certificates

Experience and skills

- Proven experience installing and commissioning solar PV and battery systems

- Experience leading or supervising an installation crew

- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

- A clear, practical approach to safety and compliance

- Positive communication skills with team members, customers and other departments

- Experience with both on-grid and off-grid installations (highly regarded)
