The Role

We are seeking a highly capable Associate Adviser to join our boutique financial planning firm. This role is a technical, client‑facing position designed for individuals who either aspire to continue to deliver a strong service to clients, or want a stepping stone to progressing into an Authorised Financial Adviser role.

As an Associate Adviser, you will work closely with our Principal Financial Adviser to design, prepare, and deliver high‑quality, strategic, holistic financial advice. You will be actively involved in client meetings, develop technical strategies, prepare modelling, and contribute to the full advice experience — including overseeing the administrative processing, which is handled by our Client Services team. This role will have line management duties.

As an Associate Adviser, you embody what it means to take a people-first approach, building strong working relationships with both the clients and staff to facilitate an excellent customer journey.

This is a role for someone who loves strategy, problem‑solving, and engaging deeply with clients and their financial goals.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You

You are passionate about helping people; you take time and care to understand your clients and are driven by giving excellent customer service. You have an eye for detail and enjoy working in a small team environment. With a can-do attitude, you think through your work in a logical, fact-based way and enjoy tackling new challenges with curiosity.

This could be the right step for you because you want to be on the pathway to becoming a Financial Adviser, or you could be someone who loves all things that being an Associate Adviser represents.

About Us

Our mission is to enable people to live their best lives through financial freedom, by providing bespoke financial advice that covers decades and lifetimes. As a financial planning company that has been servicing our clients for over 20 years, we are dedicated to providing leadership and clarity to clients, in the midst of constant national and global economic, political and social change.

While our trade is financial advice, empowering people to live their best lives is so much more than financial management. We focus on our clients’ needs and wants, we help them articulate their vision and see their future opportunities and possibilities. We cover the full financial toolkit – from superannuation, investment and retirement strategies through to personal insurance, social security advice and beyond.

Being able to provide holistic advice that informs our clients of their possibilities is important to us, which is why we are a non-aligned company that is not associated with any bank or company.

What We Offer

We are a small team who works every day to understand our clients’ needs and wants, so we can provide the best service and financial advice possible. Our office is small, but mighty; we have a people-first culture that means we value the uniqueness and diversity of every client and team member. As part of our team, you will be a valued colleague who is supported by a group of like-minded individuals.

Education is a core focus for us, and we will support you to study or experience development opportunities within the team. Being tight-knit means no single day is the same – as the needs of the team change and grow, there are opportunities to experience more than the role, which can open new career pathways.

How to Apply

If this job excites you and you would like the opportunity to work in a dynamic, energetic and purpose-driven team, please apply now by sending your CV and a cover letter explaining why you’re the right person for the role. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 03 •••• •000.

This recruitment round will end on Saturday, 14th November and shortlisting will commence week of 16th November.

Please note: we do not currently offer a Professional Year for financial planning qualifications, although hope to do so in 12 months' time.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Job:

Paraplanning

- Prepare high quality, compliant Strategy & Advice documents – includes the scoping, creating and finalising of Statements and Records of Advice, working closely with the Adviser(s).

- Undertake the related research, including financial modelling, projections and scenario analysis.

- Act as a critical friend to the Advisors, constructively challenging where appropriate, i.e. you feel alternatives could be better explored.

Client Meetings & Implementation

- Attendance at initial and review meetings with clients, ensuring that preparation and implementation on either side of the meeting is completed with a high level of diligence.

- For recent clients, be the key point of contact (i.e. case manager) for the client, end-to-end.

- Ensuring all advice/implementation documents are prepared in advance, as well as the relevant research to accompany any advice; this includes pre-filling forms and producing any necessary client reports.

Advice Implementation & Maintenance. Working with the wider Client Admin team, take ownership over the implementation of the agreed advice recommendations on behalf of the client and Adviser(s). This includes:

- Oversee the implementation: including initiation of superannuation rollovers, insurance applications, managed fund investments and direct share purchases.

- Ensure implementation is delivered in a timely manner, keeping within turnaround times.

- Assist the Adviser(s) in routine checks of portfolios, to ensure that portfolios continue to be aligned to the agreed advice.

- This role will come with line management duties.

Engagement. Be a key point of contact with our clients, nurturing a strong relationship with them, which includes:

- Maintain an open dialogue with the client, informing them of progress and being quick to follow up either client or relevant third party to ensure implementation is efficient.

- Liaising with clients, and relevant third parties (social services, fund managers, insurance companies) to collect accurate information and relay any changes in circumstances.

Experience & Skills we're looking for:

- A minimum of 3 years' experience in either paraplanning or associate adviser role.

- Strong technical understanding of superannuation, investments (including direct equities) insurance, social security and tax.

- Experience of applying strong analytical skills and lateral thinking to articulate financial strategies/plans.

- Experience in coordinating/conducting high-quality research.

- Experience of working effectively under pressure, prioritising and managing deadlines, demonstrating sound judgement and awareness.

- Exceptional problem solver with a proactive mindset.

- Strong communication skills (written, interpersonal, client-facing).

- Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, advisers and team members.

- High attention to detail and strong organisation skills.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and take ownership through to completion.

- Comfortable raising questions or seeking clarification when needed.

- Strong technical curiosity and passion for learning.

- Completed FASEA/Financial Adviser Standards education
