About the role

The Leichhardt Hotel Taroom is seeking a reliable, hardworking and motivated Cook to join our team. This is a full-time position offering a minimum of 38 hours a week. The successful candidate will thrive in a quick-paced kitchen environment, have a passion for valuable pub-style food, and be able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and presentation. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys the challenges of a busy pub kitchen, can keep up with a strong service and takes pride in serving hearty, quality meals.

Key responsibilities
Prepare, cook and present meals to a high standard in a busy pub kitchen
Deliver consistent, quality pub-style meals during busy service periods
Assist with menu preparation, daily specials and food preparation
Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen at all times
Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures
Monitor food stock levels, assist with ordering and minimise food waste
Ensure food is stored, handled and labelled correctly




Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
Manage multiple orders efficiently during peak periods
Assist with cleaning duties, kitchen close-down and general maintenance of kitchen equipment

About you
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or similar cooking role
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during busy service
Good time management, organisation and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Adaptable availability, including weekends, evenings and public holidays
Reliable, punctual and dependable

Pay: $79,423.00 – $85,000.00 per year
