Our client is seeking an experienced Workshop Leading Hand to join their fabrication team based in Bibra Lake. This is a full-time opportunity suited to a senior fabricator or welder looking to step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on. Reporting to the Workshop Production Manager, you'll lead from the floor, support the team, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

What you'll be doing:
Performing hands-on fabrication, welding, and container modification work
Supervising and supporting fabricators, trade assistants, and contractors on the workshop floor
Allocating and prioritising daily tasks in line with production requirements
Providing real-time technical guidance and troubleshooting support
Ensuring all work is completed safely and meets quality standards
Assisting with short-term workflow planning and job scheduling
Monitoring team productivity and addressing workflow issues
Coordinating with the Workshop Production Manager on job progress and priorities
Ensuring materials, tools, and equipment are ready for upcoming work
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop




Supporting safety compliance and maintaining high workshop standards

What you'll need:
Strong fabrication and welding experience, particularly with structural steel
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
Experience in container modification or heavy fabrication (highly regarded)
Proven experience as a Leading Hand or in a senior trade-based role
Understanding of workflow coordination and job scheduling
Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
Confident leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a team
Hands-on, practical approach with a willingness to lead by example
Robust problem-solving ability and a solutions-focused mindset
Reliable, decisive, and confident in directing others
Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with management and team members
