Gate Opening Systems is currently looking for Fitter (General). Gate Opening Systems specialises in the supply and installation of automated sliding, cantilever, swing and bi-parting gates, boom gates, vehicle barrier systems, pedestrian turnstiles and access control automation systems. The company provides mechanical gate installation, fitting, alignment and automation solutions for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects throughout Victoria.

Key Responsibilities
Install, fit and align sliding, cantilever, swing and bi-parting gates, ensuring correct positioning, mechanical balance and smooth operation.
Fit and assemble mechanical components, including rollers, tracks, carriage systems and pivot assemblies, checking tolerances and clearances.
Install structural posts, support frames, boom gate bases, barrier arms and turnstile mechanical assemblies.
Inspect, diagnose and rectify mechanical faults in gate systems, including alignment issues, friction and component wear.
Modify brackets and mounting plates, reinforce gate components, and grind,



prepare and adjust steel parts to achieve the required fit and alignment.
Perform minor onsite welding to modify, reinforce or repair gate components and mounting structures.
Install gate motors and boom barrier motors, ensuring correct positioning and integration with the mechanical assemblies.
Install automation and safety components, including photocells, safety edges and loop detectors, and connect access control devices such as keypads, card readers and intercoms.
Read technical drawings and wiring diagrams, run and terminate low-voltage cabling, and assist with control board programming, system testing and fault diagnosis.

Qualifications
Mechanical Trade or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
Relevant experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, installation and maintenance of gate systems or similar mechanical equipment.
Basic welding and metal fabrication skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
