Data Scientist - Python, DevOps, Geospatial
Multiple locations – QLD, ACT, NSW, VIC, SA
A high profile Federal Government Agency is looking to engagean experiencedData Scientistto develop and implement scalable data science workflows to deliver robust and operational products within high performance cloud computation environments.
The successfulData Scientistwill be offered aninitial 6 month contract with the view to be extendedand receive a rewarding hourly rate.
TheData Scientistwill be responsible for but not limited to;
Develop projects to implement solutions within an agile work environment.
Integrate geospatial information systems, data pipelines and processing techniques that work in both supercomputing and cloud computing environments.
Develop and contribute to maintainable and well documented python code, and ensure high quality is maintained across the team.
Communicate technical issues to a wide audience, including a technical lead, program manager, other project members and science stakeholders.




TheData Scientistwill have experience in the following:
Knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in coding and software development (ideally Python, Fortran).
Experience in image processing and classification using remote sensing algorithms and/or Machine Learning techniques with optical and/or synthetic aperture radar (SAR) remotely sensed data.
Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD and infracode) and cloud computing (preferably in an AWS setting).
Experience in geospatial analysis, ideally using packages such as xarray, pandas, NumPy & services.
