About the Role:
We're seeking an experiencedPrincipal Developer / Lead Backend API Developerto lead the design, development and ongoing evolution of aconsumer API platformthat supportsweb applications, portals and mobile appsin a highly governed environment.
You'll provide hands-on technical leadership, set engineering standards, and work closely with cross-functional teams (frontend, platform engineering, integration and enterprise platforms) to deliver secure, scalable and reliable digital services.
A major focus is the development of a new middleware platform that will sit between the backend systems, MuleSoft services, and customer-facing portals.
The successful candidate will help establish the backend team and technical practices supporting this platform.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the establishment of the new middleware/backend development team.
Provide technical leadership and set engineering standards and practices.
Mentor and guide a small team of developers.
Lead troubleshooting, debugging, and production issue resolution.
Drive high-quality software engineering outcomes.
Support both portal and mobile application teams through shared middleware services.




Technical Skills Required :
Leading design/delivery ofenterprise-scale backend services, API platforms and integrations.
Strong expertise inGolang,GraphQL, API architecture, authN/authZ patterns, and service-to-service communication.
Cloud-native delivery/operations experience withKubernetesandAWS(incl.EKS).
Establishing engineering standards, code reviews, automated testing and delivery governance.
Practical experience usingAI-assisted software engineering toolswhile maintaining solid oversight/accountability.
Production support and debugging of complex systems
Integration experience with enterprise platforms such asSalesforceandMuleSoft(or equivalent).
