nAbout the Role:n
n
nWe're seeking an experienced
Principal Developer / Lead Backend API Developer
to lead the design, development and ongoing evolution of a
consumer API platform
that supports
web applications, portals and mobile apps
in a highly governed environment.n
nYou'll provide hands-on technical leadership, set engineering standards, and work closely with cross-functional teams (frontend, platform engineering, integration and enterprise platforms) to deliver secure, scalable and reliable digital services.n

nA major focus is the development of a new middleware platform that will sit between the backend systems, MuleSoft services, and customer-facing portals. The successful candidate will help establish the backend team and technical practices supporting this platform. n

n Key Responsibilities
n
n
n
Lead the establishment of the current middleware/backend development team.
n
n
n
Provide technical leadership and set engineering standards and practices.
n
n
n
Mentor and guide a small team of developers.
n
n
n
Lead troubleshooting, debugging, and production issue resolution.
n
n
n
Drive high-quality software engineering outcomes.
n
n
n
Support both portal and mobile application teams through shared middleware services.




n
n
Technical Skills Required :
n
n
n
Leading design/delivery of
enterprise-scale backend services
, API platforms and integrations.
n
Strong expertise in
Golang
,
GraphQL
, API architecture, authN/authZ patterns, and service-to-service communication.
n
Cloud-native
delivery/operations
experience with
Kubernetes
and
AWS
(incl.
EKS
).
n
Establishing engineering standards, code reviews, automated testing and delivery governance.
n
Practical experience using
AI-assisted software engineering tools
while maintaining strong
oversight/accountability.
n
Production support and debugging of complex systems
n
Integration experience with enterprise platforms such as
Salesforce
and
MuleSoft
(or equivalent).
n
