Your new role
As a Senior Claims Assessor, you will manage complex travel insurance claims while acting as a key technical resource for the broader claims team.
You will assess high-value and complex matters, provide guidance to less experienced assessors, and support quality decision-making across the function.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing complex travel insurance claims from lodgement through to resolution
Assessing policy coverage and interpreting policy wordings
Reviewing medical, financial and travel-related documentation
Handling escalated and higher-risk claims matters, as well as supporting IDR and complaints
Assisting with AFCA-related responses and documentation
Coaching and mentoring junior assessors
Supporting training and capability development initiatives




Working closely with emergency assistance and external service providers
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the claims team
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will have:
2+ years' claims assessment experience, with at least 1 of these in travel insurance
Strong policy interpretation and decision-making capability
Exposure to complex claims or escalated matters
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong stakeholder management skills
Ability to mentor and support less experienced team members
