Overview:
COMO Engineers is seeking a commercially astute and driven Commercial Manager to lead the commercial management of our operations and projects. This role is central to protecting commercial outcomes and supporting the sustainable growth of the business, and will suit a proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic project workplace.

The Commercial Manager will report to the Managing Director and will oversee contracts, procurement, project financial performance, claims, risk and governance, partnering closely with executive, operational and project leaders to ensure contractual obligations and opportunities are proactively managed.

COMO Engineers is a privately owned company that has delivered engineering, construction and commissioning services to the mineral processing industry since 1986.

Our multidisciplinary team includes metallurgists, process specialists, engineers, designers, construction professionals and project delivery experts. We provide clients with a complete suite of services across the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and engineering design through to self-performed fabrication, construction and commissioning.

About the Role:
As Commercial Manager, you will be accountable for the commercial performance and contractual governance of COMO’s operations and projects. Key responsibilities include:

· Commercial strategy and governance, including developing commercial strategies, policies, procedures, delegations and templates that support COMO’s business plan, growth objectives and risk appetite.

· Contracts and procurement, including the review, negotiation and administration of contracts, subcontracts, consultancy agreements and purchase orders.

· Tender and bid support, including commercial reviews, pricing assumptions, qualifications, departures and contract handover.





· Project commercial performance, partnering with project managers on budgets, cost controls, cash flow forecasts, margins and commercial reporting.

· Oversight of progress claims, payment schedules, variations, extensions of time, delay matters, retentions and project close-out.

· Claims, risk and dispute management, including maintaining risk registers, developing claims and negotiation strategies, and resolving contractual issues while maintaining constructive relationships.

· Leadership and stakeholder management, including building trusted relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, and coaching and developing commercial personnel.

· Continuous improvement and strengthening commercial controls based on project outcomes and emerging risks.

Applicant Requirements:

- Australian citizenship or permanent residency, and be Perth-based.
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law or a related discipline.
- Strong commercial management experience, including negotiating and administering complex contracts and subcontracts.
- Strong knowledge of project cost control, forecasting, margin management, claims and cash flow.
- Experience identifying and managing contractual and commercial risk and resolving disputes.
- Experience contributing to tenders, pricing reviews and contract award processes.
- Sound judgement, integrity and a practical, risk-based approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
- Strong negotiation, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
