Transport Manager - International & Domestic Logistics

From China to Construction Sites Across Australia - We Need Someone Who Can Make It Happen!

At Homes & Granny Flats, we're building homes, expanding our operations and moving some seriously big loads!

With manufacturing facilities in both Australia and China, we're looking for an experienced, hands on Transport Manager who knows how to move freight internationally, coordinate deliveries across Australia and keep everything running to schedule.

This is a key role in our growing business, and we're looking for someone who understands the complexities of importing freight from China as well as managing domestic transport and construction logistics. Please note regional travel may be required for this role.

The Role

As our Transport Manager, you'll oversee the movement of building materials, modular housing components and completed buildings from our manufacturing facilities to construction sites across Australia.

A significant part of your role will involve coordinating freight from our factory in China, ensuring shipments are managed efficiently from origin through to arrival in Australia and final delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

International Freight & Imports

- Manage the end to end movement of freight from our manufacturing facility in China to Australia.
- Coordinate international sea freight, container shipments and specialised cargo movements.




- Liaise with our China based factory, international freight forwarders, shipping lines and customs brokers.
- Oversee shipping documentation, import requirements, customs clearance and biosecurity processes.
- Manage container bookings, shipping schedules, port movements and delivery arrangements.
- Negotiate competitive international freight rates and monitor shipping costs.
- Understand and manage Incoterms, freight insurance and import-related responsibilities.
- Monitor international shipments, anticipate delays and resolve issues before they affect construction schedules.

Domestic Transport & Logistics

- Coordinate deliveries of modular homes, building materials and equipment throughout NSW and interstate.
- Organise heavy haulage, oversized loads and specialised transport arrangements.
- Application to RMS for oversize dimensional loads and oversize routes.
- Manage relationships with transport contractors, drivers, freight providers and suppliers.
- Plan delivery schedules around factory production, construction timelines and site readiness.
- Coordinate relevant permits, escorts and route planning for oversized loads.
- Ensure transport operations meet applicable NHVR, Chain of Responsibility and safety requirements.
- Monitor transport costs, identify efficiencies and improve delivery processes.
- Work closely with factory managers, project coordinators and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Check access at customers properties ready for the delivery of Granny Flats.

What We're Looking For

We need someone who understands both international freight and Australian transport operations.

Essential Experience & Skills

- Demonstrated experience managing international freight and imports from China into Australia.
- Strong knowledge of sea freight, container shipping,



freight forwarding and import logistics.
- Experience working with customs brokers, shipping agents and international freight providers.
- Sound understanding of Australian import regulations, customs documentation and biosecurity requirements.
- Proven experience coordinating domestic transport and logistics operations.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing freight costs and transport contractors.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple shipments, deliveries and deadlines simultaneously.
- A practical, proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of transport operations.

Highly Regarded

- Experience transporting modular buildings, prefabricated structures or construction materials.
- Knowledge of heavy haulage, oversized loads and specialised transport.
- Experience dealing directly with Chinese manufacturers or factories.
- Mandarin language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Experience developing transport systems and procedures for a growing business.
