CNC Machinist – Precision Engineering

Chase Surface Engineering is a growing, independently owned precision engineering business specialising in heavy earthmoving powertrain component repairs, advanced machining, component reclamation and applied failure analysis.

Based in Paget, Mackay, we support some of the mining industry's most demanding mechanical repair and engineering requirements.

We're looking for an experienced CNC Machinist / Fitter & Turner who takes pride in their workmanship, understands precision and enjoys solving complex machining challenges.

This isn't a repetitive production machining role. Our workshop handles a diverse range of one-off components, specialised repairs, custom tooling and precision manufacturing projects.

The Role

Working with our modern CNC equipment, including our DMG MORI CMX 600V machining centre and DMG MORI CNC lathe mill/turn, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality components to demanding engineering specifications.

Key responsibilities include:

- Setting up, programming and operating CNC milling and turning equipment.

- Interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications.

- Using Autodesk Fusion to develop CAM files for complex machining on the mill.

- Manufacturing precision components, specialised tooling and replacement parts.

- Completing one-off machining, prototype development and small production runs.

- Supporting reclamation and precision repair of heavy earthmoving powertrain components.

- Conducting dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.

- Maintaining machining quality, equipment condition and safe working practices.

- Working collaboratively to develop effective machining methods and improve workshop efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

- Trade qualification in Fitting & Turning,



CNC Machining and conversational programing experience.

- Demonstrated experience with CNC milling and/or turning.

- Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds and material properties.

- Ability to interpret technical drawings and work independently.

- Sound knowledge of dimensional tolerances and precision measurement.

- A practical, solutions-focused approach to challenging engineering work.

- Pride in workmanship, reliability and attention to detail.

Highly regarded but not essential:

- Experience with FANUC controls.

- CAD/CAM programming experience, particularly Autodesk Fusion.

- Experience machining components for mining, heavy equipment or powertrain applications.

- Experience developing machining processes for complex one-off components.
