Termite-Qualified Pest Control Technician

Termite-Qualified Pest Control Technician

Are you an experienced pest control technician who takes pride in doing a job properly, delivering great customer service and getting the right results?

Defender Pest Control Specialists is looking for a skilled and experienced Termite-Qualified Pest Control Technician with a minimum of 2 years’ timber-pest experience to join our growing Melbourne team.

This is an opportunity to join an established, family-owned local business where quality workmanship, honest advice and customer satisfaction genuinely matter.

If you’re confident in your technical abilities, enjoy working independently and want to be part of a business that values its people, we’d love to hear from you.

About Defender Pest Control Specialists

Defender Pest Control Specialists is a Melbourne-based, family-owned business providing residential and commercial pest management solutions across metropolitan Melbourne.

We’ve built our reputation on reliable service, professional workmanship, clear communication and a genuine commitment to our customers. Our strong online reviews and local recognition reflect the relationships we’ve developed with homeowners, businesses and property managers.

From general pest management to specialised termite inspections and treatments, we take a thorough, practical approach to solving pest problems and helping our customers protect their properties.

We’re proud to be a local business that values good people, high standards and doing things the right way.

Real people. Real service. Real results.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality pest management services across residential and commercial properties throughout Melbourne.

Working both independently and as part of our team, you’ll use your technical knowledge and practical experience to inspect, identify and manage pest issues, with a particular focus on termite inspections and treatments.

Your ability to communicate confidently with customers, provide accurate reports and recommend appropriate solutions will be just as significant as your technical skills.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct thorough termite inspections and timber pest assessments.
- Prepare accurate, detailed inspection reports and explain findings to customers.

- Carry out termite treatments and management solutions in accordance with relevant standards, product requirements and industry best practice.
- Install, service and monitor termite management and baiting systems where appropriately qualified.
- Perform general pest treatments for spiders, ants, cockroaches, rodents and other common pests.
- Identify pest activity, contributing factors and potential entry points, providing practical prevention advice.
- Recommend appropriate treatment options based on inspection findings and customer needs.
- Maintain accurate digital service records, reports and treatment documentation.
- Deliver friendly, professional service and build positive relationships with customers and property managers.
- Manage your daily schedule, vehicle, equipment and chemical inventory responsibly.
- Follow all relevant safety procedures, licensing requirements and environmental guidelines.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who is experienced, reliable and takes genuine pride in their work.

To be successful, you’ll have:

- Recognised termite inspection and treatment qualifications appropriate to the work undertaken, specifically competency units CPPPMT3008 (inspect for and report on timber pests) and CPPPMT3010 (control timber pests) from the CPP30115 Certificate III in Urban Pest Management.
- A minimum of 2 years’ timber-pest control experience.
- Relevant current Victorian pest control licensing and qualifications.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience conducting termite inspections, preparing reports and performing termite treatments.
- Sound knowledge of termite biology, building construction, conducive conditions and termite management options.
- Experience using pest management equipment, products and treatment systems safely and effectively.
- A current, unrestricted Victorian driver’s licence and a good driving history.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence working independently, managing appointments and making sound technical decisions.
- A professional presentation and a customer‑first attitude.
- Good attention to detail, time management and problem‑solving skills.

A positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to ongoing professional development are essential.

What’s in it for you?

We know skilled technicians are valuable, and we want the right person to feel valued at Defender.

Here’s what we offer:

- $85,000+ annual base salary, depending on experience and capability.
- Superannuation on top of your base salary.
- Company vehicle for work‑related travel.
- Conversion‑based commission to reward results and contribution to the business.
- The opportunity to work with an established, family‑owned Melbourne business.
- A supportive team environment where your experience and ideas are valued.
- Independence and responsibility in managing your daily work.
- A varied role across residential and commercial pest management.
- Opportunities to develop your technical skills and grow with the business.
- The chance to build lasting customer relationships and make a real difference to the service we deliver.

We want someone who enjoys their work, takes ownership of their responsibilities and wants to be part of a team that genuinely cares about its customers.

The person we’re looking for

You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder all day. You know your trade, understand the importance of thorough inspections and take responsibility for the quality of your work.

You can confidently explain a termite inspection finding to a homeowner, produce a professional report, recommend an appropriate solution and complete the job to a high standard.

You understand that great pest control is about more than applying a product. It’s about identifying the problem, addressing it properly and giving customers confidence that they’re in good hands.

Most importantly, you’re reliable, approachable and proud of the work you do.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.

Only applicants with the relevant qualifications, licensing and practical experience will be considered for this position.
