Casual Position | Approx 7.6 casual hours per week available | Kew Campus

Methodist Ladies' College (MLC) is one of Australia's leading independent girls' schools, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of every student.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Piano Instructor to join our vibrant Music Department on a casual basis.

About the Music Department

The MLC Music Department provides core and elective curriculum music programs from Prep to Year 12, supports a broad range of co-curricular ensembles rehearsing before and after school, and enables students across the College to participate in private instrumental and vocal tuition during school hours.

As a Music Instructor, you will be part of a team-oriented team of instrumental and vocal specialists dedicated to fostering musical excellence and encouraging lifelong engagement in music.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Music and Deputy Director of Music, you will:

- Provide high-quality individual piano tuition, delivering a structured and developmental program tailored to students' needs.
- Build and grow piano enrolments through student engagement, performances, promotional activities and collaboration with classroom music programs.
- Allocate students to lessons and manage lesson timetables.
- Lead ensembles, accompaniment programs or other music activities as required, creating meaningful performance and development opportunities for students.
- Attend and support concerts, performances, camps and other Music Department events.
- Supervise and encourage student participation in MLC ensembles and music activities.
- Maintain accurate administrative records including lesson attendance, reports,



examination entries and scholarship processes.
- Fulfil Music Department administrative requirements and contribute to the smooth operation of instrumental programs.
- Build strong, inclusive relationships across the Music Department and wider College community.
- Contribute positively to MLC's culture and values of Engage with Respect, Aspire with Responsibility, Act with Compassion, and Explore with Courage.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- Proven piano teaching experience, preferably within a school environment.
- The ability to inspire and motivate students of varying ages and abilities.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to working as part of a high-performing music team.
- Experience preparing students for performances, examinations and ensemble participation.
- A passion for fostering student growth through music education.

- Current Working with Children's Check (Employee)
- Relevant music qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience
- Eligibility to work in Australia
