It brings together evidence, workforce planning, commissioning and sector partnerships to help build a more sustainable and capable early years workforce.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the inaugural Manager Communications will establish and lead the Institute's communications, marketing, brand and events function. Your mandate is to give this new statewide organisation a clear voice and translate its priorities into effective communications.
This is a strategic and hands-on role: you will advise the executive while taking responsibility for delivery, building the foundations for a consistent and credible organisational presence. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Institute, drawing on their subject-matter expertise and contributing your expertise in messaging, channels and delivery to develop accurate, accessible communications.
What you will deliver
- Strategy and executive advice: Develop the communications strategy for CEO endorsement and advise the executive on branding, key messages and announcements.
- Brand and marketing: Deliver consistent messaging and identity across external channels, supported by marketing activity and media materials.
- Internal communications:
Keep staff informed and connected through communications that support the Institute's culture across digital, email and traditional channels.
- Engagement and events: Build relationships with partners, peak bodies, community groups, sponsors and media, and deliver events that strengthen sector awareness and engagement.
- Budget and external support: Develop and oversee the communications budget and engage external providers to support delivery.
- Digital systems: Work with IT and vendors to address issues and improve the website, customer relationship management and learning management systems.
What you will bring
- Success developing and delivering communications, brand and marketing strategies in small start-up organisations.
- Experience planning and delivering events that support organisational objectives.
- Expertise or an in-depth understanding of the education sector.
- Expert communication and influencing skills, with strong government and stakeholder relationship management.
- Expertise in brand development and the use of media and channels to engage external stakeholders.
- Experience leading internal communications that strengthen organisational culture, with a collaborative approach that respects colleagues' subject-matter expertise and builds shared ownership of accurate content,
clear messaging and effective delivery.
- Ability to align short- and medium-term activity with long-term priorities developed with executives.
- Leadership grounded in organisational values, with the flexibility to support leaders through complexity and inspire others.
- Experience in the education and care sector preferred
Why consider this chance?
- Establish the function: Set the foundations for communications, marketing and brand, with ownership of the approach from the outset.
- Contribute at executive level: Provide advice that shapes how the Institute communicates its priorities and builds its reputation.
- Lead across the portfolio: Combine strategic planning with practical delivery across brand, communications, stakeholder engagement and events.
