The Coordinated Client Support (CCS) Branch manages a range of programs to assist vulnerable clients to navigate DVA services and connect to supports to meet their wellbeing needs. Case management provided by the CCS Branch is collectively referred to as the Client Support Program (CSP).

The CSP is a voluntary time limited case management program, which uses a trauma informed approach to support clients to meet their wellbeing needs. The program aims to streamline communication between veterans, family members of veterans and DVA. Case management provides clients with a single or primary point of contact for all services within DVA and facilitates access to external support services.

The EL2 Director leads the staff and work outcomes in their section, is a member of the branch leadership team and contributes to the culture and outcomes of the department. Within the branch, the Director is responsible for ongoing development and implementation of high-quality, veteran-centric case management practice. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing governance and reporting systems that support service delivery, including quality assurance, program and data management, and learning and development needs for the Branch. In this branch, staff are exposed to information that may impact on them. It’s important that you understand this and are able and willing to implement wellbeing strategies for yourself and others.

The key duties of the position include:

- Provide strategic direction to the section and branch, including the development of business plans, strategies, budgets and priorities and monitor workflow and performance.

- Contribute to the Department’s strategic reform and operational business transformation to ensure quick and appropriate responses to a variety of competing priorities and/or vulnerable clients within assigned resources.
- Provide leadership across the Department, particularly in adapting to rapidly changing circumstances.
- Develop, coach and mentor employees, manage performance and conflict and identify training needs.
- Provide high level advice to the DVA senior executive and, as required, to the Minister and Commissions.
- Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including representing the Department in high level discussions and negotiations.

Eligibility

- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
- Any successful candidate will also be required to obtain and/or maintain, a baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.

Notes

This recruitment process may be used to fill ongoing and/or non-ongoing position/s. For more information about the role, please see the Candidate Information Pack.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.

Getting to know the Department of Veterans' Affairs

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) exists to fulfil the nation’s duty to support our serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members and their families.
