Humpy Co. is a family-owned, builder-backed business that creates backyard living solutions across Victoria. We design and build backyard pods, studios, granny flats, small secondary dwellings and modular extensions. Everything is Australian-made and prefabricated in our own factory. We're part of the Lowe family's 40-plus year building legacy. We look after our clients from concept to completion, covering feasibility, design, council planning, building permit, manufacture, delivery, install and aftercare. About the role

We're looking for an experienced Draftsperson to join our Building Design team in Mentone. You'll already be confident producing residential drawings in Archicad and working through Victorian planning and building permit requirements. You'll take ownership of your own projects, from backyard pods and studios through to extensions and small secondary dwellings. This is a full-time role based in our Mentone office.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing concept, town planning and construction drawings in Archicad for your own projects, with minimal supervision and within agreed time frames

- Taking projects through our Feasibility, Design and Permit Package stages

- Preparing and coordinating documentation for planning and building permit applications

- Making sure drawings are accurate and meet client requirements, council requirements, the NCC, and Humpy Co. standards

- Working with councils, building surveyors, engineers, energy raters and other consultants to get documentation and approvals through

- Gathering site information using tools such as Nearmaps





- Working closely with our sales, estimating, factory and construction teams so designs are buildable using the Humpy system

- Helping improve our drawing templates, standards and processes

About you

- At least 2 years' experience in residential drafting or building design, ideally in Victoria

- Strong working knowledge of Archicad

- Sound understanding of the NCC, Australian Standards and Victorian planning requirements, including ResCode

- Experience preparing planning and building permit documentation

- A qualification in building design, drafting or architecture, such as a Diploma of Building Design, Certificate IV in Residential Drafting or an architecture degree

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several projects at once

- Clear, confident communicator with clients, consultants and councils

- Experience with granny flats, secondary dwellings, or modular or prefabricated construction is a bonus

- Willingness to learn our Humpy system and how it comes together in the factory and on site
