Chef – Canberra Southern Cross Club

Salary: $79,326.40 - $84,238.94 per annum (AUD)

Main responsibilities

- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in all kitchen areas.
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes or supervise others where preparation is required.
- Support the Executive Chef, Head Chef, Sous Chef, and broader kitchen team to ensure food preparation is technically correct, cost-effective, and in line with budgets.
- Assess food products to consistently meet CSCC quality standards.

Requirements

- Minimum one year experience in wood-fire pizza preparation and cooking.
- Diploma in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum one year of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Experience in clubs or hotels preferred.
- Strong team player with leadership and coaching abilities.




- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining consistency and quality.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Assist in menu planning and development, ensuring seasonal and local ingredients are utilised.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and work areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure effective service during busy periods.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills.

- A passion for cooking and a desire to learn and grow in the culinary field.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
