About the role

We’re seeking world-class educators to inspire the next generation of Aboriginal Health students by joining our team of teachers on a permanent full time basis, based at Campbelltown or Nepean (Kingswood) Campus. Travel across Western Sydney required, including Blacktown and Westmead hospitals, in response to operational, industry and community needs.

In this role, you will deliver engaging learning experiences and educational programs that prepare students for careers in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care. Drawing on your industry expertise, you will help students develop the clinical skills, practical knowledge and professional confidence required to provide culturally safe, community-focused healthcare and achieve their learning goals.

You will play an important part in developing the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners, supporting students to make a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. Through your teaching, you will contribute to building a skilled health workforce, improving health outcomes and helping to close the gap.

At TAFE NSW, you will discover a diverse, dynamic, and collaborative environment, where you can innovate, create value, and do meaningful work. We provide you with tools and ongoing training and professional development, health and wellbeing programs, and a variety of flexible working options.

Essential Requirements:

- Aboriginality (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1977). Candidates selected for an interview must provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
- Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.
- Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document here for details.

- Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry, gained no longer than five (5) years previously.
- Have current, hands-on clinical experience within the healthcare sector, with demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of clinical skills with the ability to competently demonstrate and teach students.

Our commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment

With over 420 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and a strong Aboriginal Staff Network, we are committed to creating a culturally safe workplace where dignity, trust, respect, and the promotion of diversity and inclusion are valued.

At TAFE NSW, you will have a sense of belonging and the opportunity to share your skills, stories, and passions and represent your communities and culture.

We are proud of our Reconciliation Action Plan, and our Aboriginal Employment Strategy and are continually improving our services to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students.
