Glenroy Central Primary School is located in Logan St Glenroy and is part of the Hume/ Merri-bek Network. Our school consists of four buildings: an Administration Building, Junior and Senior Learning Communities and a full-sized Gymnasium/ Performing Arts facility. We have a Visual Arts room attached to the Senior Learning Community. Our current enrolment is about 260 students. We currently have 25 teaching staff with a mixture of full time and part time staff. We have 9 Education Support Staff who work in a variety of capacities including library and IT. Specialist teachers provide programs in Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and STEM. Our LOTE is Auslan which is integrated into the daily program of our Learning Communities.
The school is located in a multicultural, disadvantaged community with our main nationalities being, Lebanese, Pakistani, Indian, Iranian and Nepalese. We have about 70% of our families who are on Health Care cards and 80% who have a language background other than English.
Our school works in Learning Communities and is therefore very team focussed. Each of the four Learning Communities (Prep, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6) has an allocated team of teachers and aides who are collectively responsible for providing programs that meet the needs of all students and for ensuring that all students reach their full potential. Our school values of Curiosity, Collaboration, Citizenship, Character and Caring are embedded in our daily work.
We also have two kindergarten buildings onsite offering both 3- and 4-year-old programs.
The kindergartens are managed by the Northern Schools Early Years which manages a number of local kindergartens that are on school sites.
