About Us

Megaptera Ventures is a dynamic group of companies operating across the electrical and safety industries. We are a team of around 25 people across the group, with a team of 8 based in our Melbourne office. We are looking for an experienced full-time Bookkeeper to take complete ownership of the books across three or more of our core businesses.

About the Role

Working directly in Xero, you will manage the full end-to-end bookkeeping cycle for each business, from daily reconciliation right through to month-end reporting. Reporting to our remote Finance Manager, you will enjoy significant autonomy to structure your workweek, prioritise tasks, and make independent decisions. As the dedicated group bookkeeper, you will play a central role in maintaining financial accuracy and gain a explicit, comprehensive view of overall performance.

Your Week Will Include

- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable end-to-end
- Performing regular bank reconciliations across accounts




- Processing accurate and timely payroll on a fortnightly basis
- Handling GST calculations and reporting
- Managing loans and assets within Xero
- Executing full month-end processes and reporting for each business entity
- Onboarding new staff onto Xero
- Maintaining business information such as insurance on customer portals

What You'll Bring

- Deep, end-to-end bookkeeping expertise along with robust payroll knowledge
- A sharp eye for detail and a proactive habit of catching errors early
- Strong organisational skill to smoothly switch between multiple businesses and keep key deadlines on track
- 5+ years of hands-on experience using Xero (preferred)
- Xero certification (preferred, but candidates without certification are welcome to apply)
