About the Role

XR Indian Cuisine is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full time basis. We are looking for someone with strong food preparation and cooking skills who can consistently prepare high-quality dishes while maintaining our standards of taste, presentation, food safety and hygiene.

The successful candidate will work closely with the kitchen team to support efficient food preparation and service in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect food and ingredients to ensure appropriate quality and freshness.
- Prepare ingredients, including cutting, marinating, seasoning and portioning.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and restaurant standards.
- Regulate the temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
- Monitor cooking processes and season food to ensure consistency in taste and quality.
- Portion and present dishes according to restaurant presentation standards.
- Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements where required.
- Store food appropriately and maintain proper food safety and hygiene practices.
- Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements where required.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with kitchen preparation and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and workstation.




- Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient preparation and timely service.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should have:

- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications and/or relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong food preparation and cooking skills.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality, taste and presentation.
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen and cooking equipment safely.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience preparing Indian cuisine will be highly regarded.
