BMD is Australia's leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business. We are seeking an experienced Subcontracts Manager to join our team in Darwin and play a key role in the commercial delivery of one of the Northern Territory's most significant infrastructure projects.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a complex, large-scale project from delivery through to completion, working alongside an experienced project and commercial leadership team.

About the Role

As Subcontracts Manager, you will be responsible for leading the subcontract management function across a major infrastructure project. You will oversee procurement, contract administration, commercial negotiations, claims and variations, ensuring solid commercial outcomes while maintaining positive subcontractor relationships.

Working closely with project leadership, you will help identify and manage commercial risk, support project profitability and ensure contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead subcontract procurement, tendering and award processes.
- Prepare, negotiate and administer subcontract agreements.
- Manage subcontractor claims, variations and payment assessments.
- Provide contract interpretation and commercial advice to project teams.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, compliance and contractual obligations.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support forecasting, cost reporting and project commercial reviews.
- Maintain accurate contract registers,



records and correspondence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and key stakeholders.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

- Previous experience as a Subcontracts Manager, Contracts Manager or Senior Contract Administrator on major civil, infrastructure, resources or construction projects.
- Strong understanding of subcontract administration, claims and variations management.
- Proven commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills.
- Experience working within large project environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively while managing competing priorities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law or a related discipline.
