Thesecasualpositionswouldsuitstudentsintheirsecondtofinalyearoflawstudies(aBachelorofLawsoraJurisDoctor)withtherolesrequiringworkofaroundonetotwodaysaweekandfurtherworkpossiblyavailableduringsemesterbreaks.Weofferflexibilitytosupportexamperiodsandotherstudycommitments.ThepositionsareCanberraandSydneybasedlocatedattheTreasuryOffices.





Successfulcandidateswillbeprovidedwithinduction,trainingandmentoringsupportandaccesstoprofessionalnetworkingopportunities.Employmentwillstartassoonaspracticablefollowingthecompletionoftherequiredpre-employmentscreening,includingobtaininganAustralianGovernmentsecurityclearance.

StudentparalegalsshouldbewillingtoundertakeworkacrosstherangeofLawDivisionfunctions.Thisisanentrylevelrole,andtherearenoprerequisiteknowledgerequirements.Treasuryiscommittedtosupportingyousucceed.You’lllearnonthejobthroughhandsonexperience,guidancefromsupportivecolleagues,andaccesstotrainingopportunities.Wefocusonbuildingcapabilitythroughrealworkandregularfeedback,ensuringyoucangrowyourskillswithconfidence.Ifyou’reenthusiastic,motivatedtolearn,andkeentocontribute,we’llteachyoutherest.

Asastudentparalegalyoumay:

- ConductlegalresearchtaskstosupportTreasuryofficer’sengagementwithstakeholdersincluding:
- instructingOfficeofParliamentaryCounsellegislativedrafters,
- reviewingdraftlegislation,
- developingexplanatorymaterial,and
- supporttheprovisionoflegaladvice.

- SupportTreasurystaffinthedevelopmentofinternationaltaxationtreaties.
- Assisttomanagelitigationbyhelpingtopreparecourtdocumentsandengagingindiscoveryprocesses.
