Haileybury welcomes applications for the role of Groundsperson to join our Facilities team. This is a Full-Time, Ongoing (1.0 FTE), commencing as soon as possible.
This role is from Tuesday to Saturday during school terms, and from Monday to Friday during school breaks.
Key Responsibilities
As the Groundsperson you will:
- Maintain and enhance lawns, gardens, and sports fields through mowing, edging, fertilising, and renovation.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage.
- Assist with line marking, and the set-up and pack-down of sporting and school events.
- Prepare and maintain turf cricket wickets, practice nets, and outfields to match-ready standards.
- Monitor turf health, including soil moisture, compaction, growth, and pest or disease activity, and implement corrective treatments.
- Operate and maintain specialised equipment, including rollers, wicket mowers, and irrigation and cover systems.
- Support portering and function set-up, including traffic management where required.
- Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
- Ensure all tasks are performed safely and in accordance with organisational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, chemical applications, and service schedules.
- Collaborate effectively within the Facilities team and provide support across campuses as required.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by management.
About You

- Understanding of appropriate behaviour’s when engaging with children.
- Knowledge of cultivated plants and their care requirements.
- Experience preparing sports fields and turf cricket pitches to a high standard.
- Competency in turf management, equipment and machinery operation, irrigation systems, and chemical handling.
- Experience applying horticultural sprays and fertilisers.
- Ability to perform manual handling, maintenance tasks, and use hand tools.
- Ability to work effectively in the team or other type of work organisation concerned.
- Good physical mobility and able to carry out repetitive and physical activity.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
