About the role

As a Cook / Catering Assistant at Duhig Village, Holland Park, you will help prepare, cook and serve fresh, nutritious meals for our residents and café customers.

Working with our supportive Hospitality team, you will maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards while providing friendly customer service. Your passion for quality food and person-centred care will help create a warm, welcoming dining experience for residents, families, visitors and staff, reflecting Southern Cross Care Queensland’s values.

What are the key responsibilities?

- Prepare, plate and serve nutritious meals, snacks and beverages, with cooking duties according to qualifications and experience.
- Ensure meals are served on time with consistent quality and presentation.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with the Food Safety Program.
- Clean dishes, kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Complete basic kitchen records,



including meal counts and food safety documentation.
- Follow Workplace Health and Safety requirements and SCCQ procedures.
- Work with the Hospitality team to provide a positive dining experience for residents.

What will you bring to the role?

- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (desired).
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen, café or hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook meals to a high standard.
- Good knowledge of food safety principles and HACCP practices (preferred).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.Compassion, patience and a genuine commitment to supporting older people.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be flexible with start time and days (including weekends).
