As a BMS Estimator, you will work closely with engineering, project delivery, service and business development teams to prepare accurate, commercially aligned estimates for Building Management Systems (BMS) projects. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of BMS and HVAC controls who enjoys technical problem-solving, interpreting specifications and developing cost-effective solutions. Based in Sydney, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects while helping strengthen EC Controls' position in the building automation market.

Key responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to prepare accurate BMS estimates.
- Develop detailed bills of materials, labour allowances and project cost breakdowns.
- Assess design requirements and validate technical assumptions in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing, compare products and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Prepare and support tender submissions, tender clarifications and value-engineering opportunities.
- Work closely with business development managers and project managers to ensure proposals are competitive and aligned with client requirements.
- Identify project risks,



scope gaps and potential cost variations during the estimating process.
- Maintain an understanding of BMS platforms, market pricing trends and competitor offerings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates and internal processes.

About you

- Proven experience in BMS, building automation or HVAC controls estimating.
- A strong technical understanding of BMS architectures, field devices, networks and system integration.
- The ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and controls drawings.
- Experience with open protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.
