Southern Meat Co is seeking an Experienced Qualified Butcher to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic butchery operation based in Lalor, VIC 3075. As an experienced butcher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality meat products and exceptional customer service. This casual position offers flexibility whilst allowing you to utilise your professional butchery expertise within our busy retail environment.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing, cutting, and processing meat products to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Operating butchery equipment safely and maintaining all tools and machinery in optimal working condition
- Maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards in accordance with industry regulations and company policies
- Assisting customers with product selection, recommendations and special orders
- Pricing and packaging meat products accurately and efficiently
- Contributing to a clean and well-organised work environment
- Assisting with stock rotation and inventory management
- Supporting the team to deliver excellent customer service at all times

What we're looking for

- Current butchery qualifications and relevant industry certifications
- Proven experience working as a qualified butcher in a retail or commercial butchery setting
- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of different cuts and meat preparation techniques




- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and relevant legislation
- Ability to operate butchery equipment safely and competently
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality products
- Reliability and flexibility to work on a casual basis as required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Preferred Languages Italian, Greek and Macedonian, but not Essential
