About Us

True Foods is a modern-day success story in the FMCG industry and the proud home of the Simson's Pantry range. As a 100% Australian-owned business, we take pride in our people-focused culture, our passion for innovation, and our commitment to sustainable growth.

We manufacture everyday household favourites - from tortilla wraps and flatbreads to pizza bases, naan and roti - delivering high-quality products that Australians know and love. Through determination and drive, we've built a growing product range, supplying major retailers and foodservice partners nationwide. Our valued customers include Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Metcash, KFC, Subway and PFD.

We're now seeking a Food Technologist to join our Research & Development team and help create, develop and improve the products that drive our business forward.

About the Role

Join True Foods in a hands-on Product Development role within our R&D; team, where you'll help bring current food products to life and improve our existing range across Retail and Food Service.

Working alongside experienced Food Technologists and the R&D; Manager, you'll gain exposure to the complete product development process - from ingredient research and formulation through to factory trials and commercial production.

This is a practical, technically focused role for someone who enjoys applying food science in a real manufacturing environment. You'll spend time developing products, conducting trials, solving technical challenges and collaborating with teams across the business.

Whether you're a recent graduate looking to begin your career or an early-career Food Technologist ready to build your experience, you'll have opportunities to develop your technical capabilities and take on greater responsibility as you grow.

Key Responsibilities

Support new product development, product renovation and continuous improvement projects from concept through to commercialisation.

Undertake hands-on product formulation, ingredient evaluation and development activities.

Prepare, conduct and document product trials, including pilot-scale and factory trials.

Prepare and evaluate product samples, including sensory and technical assessments.

Support manufacturing troubleshooting, process optimisation and value engineering initiatives.

Maintain accurate formulations, product specifications, trial reports and technical documentation.

Research ingredients, emerging technologies and food industry innovations to identify opportunities for product improvement.

Work collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to support successful product launches.

Support product compliance with relevant food safety, regulatory and customer requirements.

Take ownership of assigned activities and, as experience develops, manage smaller development projects with guidance from senior team members.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is practical,

organised and enthusiastic about developing food products in a manufacturing environment.

A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.

A sound understanding of food safety principles, including HACCP and GMP.

A genuine interest in hands-on product development and commercial food manufacturing.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and an ability to manage competing priorities.

A practical, adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to learn from challenges.

Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across different functions.

A positive attitude towards learning, feedback and continuous improvement.

Desirable, but not essential:

Previous experience in food manufacturing, including internships, industry placements or early-career roles.

Exposure to food formulation, product development or pilot-scale and factory trials.

Familiarity with FSANZ regulations, food labelling and technical documentation.

Confidence using Excel for data analysis, reporting and record-keeping.

Experience with bakery, flatbread or dough-based products.

Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. We recognise that technical capability develops through experience, and we're interested in candidates who demonstrate the right aptitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Why Join Us?

Hands-on technical experience: Develop your skills in a commercial food manufacturing environment, working on real products and manufacturing challenges.

Learn from experienced colleagues: Receive mentoring and guidance from experienced Food Technologists and the R&D; Mana
