Expression of Interest: Software Engineer (Python & AWS) | Melbourne | Hybrid | $100k–$120k + Super

We’re seeking expressions of interest from experienced Software Engineers with solid Python development skills, hands‑on AWS experience, and a background in financial services or fintech, for an upcoming opportunity – recruitment commencing in December 2026.

You’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems, APIs and cloud‑based solutions that support financial products and services.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with modern cloud technologies and building reliable, high‑quality software.

What you’ll be doing:

- Developing and maintaining scalable backend applications and microservices using Python (FastAPI, Django or Flask)
- Building, deploying and supporting secure cloud infrastructure within AWS
- Developing and integrating RESTful APIs, banking systems, payment gateways and financial data providers
- Building and maintaining efficient data pipelines for financial reporting and transaction processing
- Implementing security, compliance and software engineering best practices
- Collaborating with Product, Engineering, QA and Security teams to deliver high-quality solutions





What we’re looking for:

- 3+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend engineering
- Strong Python development skills, including experience with asynchronous programming
- Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services, such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB and IAM
- Professional experience working within financial services, fintech, banking or investment management
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational and non‑relational databases
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Git and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)

Nice to have:

- Experience with event‑driven architectures (AWS SQS, SNS or Kafka)
- Exposure to financial market data, trading systems, ledger systems or risk management platforms
- Knowledge of financial industry security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI‑DSS or GDPR)

Location: Melbourne, VIC

Hybrid: 3 days per week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 + Super

Employment: Full-time, permanent
