Supply & Inventory Manager - Private Hospital

The Organisation
Located in Epping, this modern 70-bed specialist surgical and medical hospital opened in 2024. Featuring 4 operating suites, cardiac catheterisation facilities, day oncology, and specialist units, the hospital is co-located with a major public healthcare precinct, providing high-quality, patient-centred care within an agile private setting.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Support Services, our client is seeking an adaptable, energetic Supply Manager to lead their on-site stores and supply function.

This is not a detached, desk-bound corporate role. As the department establishes itself over the next 12 months, this position operates on an 80% hands-on / 20% operational leadership split. You will lead by example alongside a small team (a dedicated permanent officer and casual pool), managing everything from physical receivals, box breakdown, and urgent theatre runs, through to purchase orders, stocktakes, and supplier management.

As the hospital scales and the team expands over time, this role will naturally transition towards higher-level process improvement, vendor management, and strategic procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

- End-to-End Operational Supply: Lead daily dock operations, physical receipting, put-away, sterile stock storage, and direct replenishment across operating theatres and wards.
- Purchasing & P2P Control: Raise purchase orders, manage stock minimums/maximums, monitor backorders, and reconcile invoices with Finance.
- High-Value Item Oversight: Oversee accurate tracking, receipting, and reconciliation of surgical prostheses and specialized clinical consumables.
- Team Leadership & Culture: Coach, mentor, and roster a small, close-knit stores team, fostering high standards of safety, accuracy, and clinical customer service.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner closely with Theatre Unit Managers,

clinicians, and Finance to resolve urgent stock needs and identify cost-efficiency initiatives.

About You:

You are a reliable, grounded inventory professional who thrives in a fast-paced workplace and prefers being active on the floor over sitting behind a desk all day. You might be an experienced Inventory/Stores Supervisor in an SME, or a proven 2IC in a small private business ready to step up and run your own department.

- 5+ years of hands-on inventory control & purchasing experience (replenishment, cycle counts, stocktakes, PO raising, and follow-on finance functions).
- Demonstrated small-team leadership or 2IC experience, with an adaptable, "all hands on deck" work ethic.
- Comfortable with physical stock handling (receiving, unpacking, and floor distribution) alongside administrative and analytical tasks.
- Background: Experience in a private business, SME, or light distribution environment is highly regarded; prior healthcare/hospital or MedTech experience is an advantage, but not essential.
- Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/inventory management software (SAP or similar software experience is advantageous).
- Compliance: Willingness to obtain/provide a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and proof of required healthcare worker immunisations.

The Offer:

On offer is a permanent full-time position paying between $94-$100k + super (depending on experience). This role is based in Melbourne's northern suburbs and operates Monday-Friday, 38 hours per week, with working hours either 7.00am-3.00pm or 8.00am-4.00pm.

There is free parking as well as excellent public transport options nearby.

The successful candidate will need to pass a Working with Children's Check as well as a National Police Check
