About Syenta
Syenta is pioneering a new era in semiconductor manufacturing with our groundbreaking Localized Electrochemical Manufacturing (LEM) technology. Our manufacturing products build cutting edge advanced packaging for the semiconductor industry by combining patterning and metallization into a single tool. We do that by achieving high-speed, high-resolution metallization at significantly lower costs and energy use, while minimizing emissions and waste.
Founded in Australia, our growing footprint in the US represents a key milestone in our journey. We are building a world-class team where seasoned engineers and ambitious emerging talent collaborate to solve some of the toughest challenges in semiconductor manufacturing.
About The Role
You will coordinate day-to-day cleanroom operations in our current semiconductor cleanroom, keeping it safe, clean, organised and consistently controlled. As the first operational contact for internal and external cleanroom users, you will provide practical guidance, coordinate shared resources and services, own Safe Ways of Working, contamination control, and resolve issues proactively and quickly so our process development teams can focus on their R&D; work. We are a growing startup, so this is a broad, hands-on role where you will help establish and improve cleanroom processes as the facility develops.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Coordinate daily cleanroom activities across teams and act as the first point of contact for internal and external cleanroom users.
- Manage shared tools, track equipment performance and downtime, and escalate unavailability to management.
- Monitor operational workflows and adherence to working standards.
- Maintain a clear log of operational issues, actions and risks, with named owners, timely follow-up and escalation.
- Deliver cleanroom inductions and manage access permissions, ensuring required training and approvals are complete.
- Use user feedback to achieve operational excellence and drive continuous improvement in cleanroom operations.
- Monitor cleanroom performance, respond to alarms and excursions within approved procedures.
- Trend recurring issues (Pareto, SPC and control charts) and feed lessons learned back into procedures.
- Define and maintain cleanroom procedures practical and current.
- Work with the US Cleanroom Operations Coordinator to ensure site matching.
EHS and Compliance
- Ensure all cleanroom users follow cleanroom procedures and contamination-control standards, and train users in their application.
- Conduct routine inspections and safety walks, recording findings and tracking corrective actions.
- Observe cleanroom practices, coach users and intervene when behaviour is unsafe or non-compliant.
- Record non-conformances and follow up corrective actions with responsible owners.
- Lead the response to operational issues and incidents: containment, investigation with users and contractors, and corrective action on the floor.
- Maintain the hazardous materials register and associated chemical, gas and waste records with responsible owners.
- Ensure compliance with chemical safety guidelines, including SDS awareness and spill response
- Perform designated emergency-response duties appropriate to training and appointment, and coordinate incident reporting and follow-up.
- Drive EHS implementation and improvement.
Facilities and Services
- Oversee on-site contractors during servicing, repairs and minor works; run contractor inductions and permit-to-work checks; verify work meets specification
- Act as the daily site escalation point for building services, contractor access and operational maintenance enquiries
- Maintain the service calendar and coordinate maintenance, calibration, inspections and contractor visits with equipment owners, minimising disruption to planned work
- Coordinate equipment and material movements, installation, and qualification through approved processes.
Inventory and Consumables
- Track cleanroom-compatible consumables, tools and materials, monitor stock levels and coordinate reorders with procurement and warehouse.
- Coordinate goods-in and goods-out flows through approved contamination-control procedures.
- Report regularly on usage, non-conformance trends, incidents, SLA performance, consumables spend,
and identifying service improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Track cleanroom operating spend against budget and flag variances to management
What We’re Looking For Startups offer phenomenal learning and development opportunities, but they can also be dynamic environments. You also need to recognise yourself in the profile below:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical study or compensated by sufficient relevant experience.
- Proven experience as a engineer or technician in cleanroom environments, ideally in the semiconductor industry.
- Working knowledge of contamination control, ISO 14644 classes, gowning practice, and SEMI standards.
- Happy to build processes from scratch and work across many areas.
- Ability to define, implement and enforce safe working procedures.
- Experience working with external contractors in a clear and constructive manner.
- Familiarity with EHS practice, chemical and gas handling, waste management and emergency response (first aid or fire warden training is a plus).
- Structured, proactive and comfortable combining coordination with hands-on involvement.
- Robust communication skills, with the ability to build trust and alignment across diverse teams and cultures.
- Ability to confidently address non-compliance and coach others in best practices.
- Strong personal ownership and proactive mindset.
