About The Role
Atlassian is seeking a Developer to join one of its Sydney engineering teams, such as Jira Server, Jira Cloud, or Growth. You will contribute to products used by thousands of teams worldwide and help shape how people get work done. This role is suited to a developer with experience who is ready to take ownership of meaningful projects while continuing to develop technical expertise and grow as a teammate. The engineering environment primarily uses Java, but Atlassian also works with technologies including Kotlin, Python, and Ruby. You do not need to arrive as an expert in Java or any single technology. The team values sound engineering fundamentals, adaptability, and the ability to learn new tools. During interviews, candidates may use the programming language in which they are most effective,



allowing the process to focus on problem-solving and development skills. Qualifications
• Professional experience with a prominent programming language such as Java, Python, C#, C/C++, or Ruby. Expertise in a specific language is not required.
• A deep understanding of data structures, including how they are implemented and

how to apply
them to solve practical problems.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to tackle challenging problems, ask questions, and learn from others.
• A genuine interest in continuous learning and growth as both a developer and a teammate.
• The ability to work effectively with teammates across time zones, with sufficient overlap for collaboration and communication. Responsibilities
• Drive projects independently, from technical design through implementation and launch.
• Apply architectural standards and use them to guide the development of recent projects.
• Contribute to code reviews and documentation, and take ownership of complex bug fixes.
• Write clear, useful technical documentation that supports the team and its products.
• Learn and contribute in Java as needed, while bringing your existing experience and adapting to the right tools for each task.




• Support the development of more junior teammates through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
