Full time | $60 per hour |Various Rosters

Green Acres Group QLD is seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter for a full-time position working various rosters.

This is a varied role combining site-based work and work at our yard, depending on operational requirements.

Green Acres Group provides wet and dry plant hire to the energy, mining and civil construction sectors. We also deliver large-scale revegetation, rehabilitation and dust-suppression services.

The successful applicant must have extensive hands-on experience maintaining and repairing CAT and Volvo machinery. Previous experience working with Challenger tractors is also preferred. Experience with Kenworth, Cummins and Hitachi equipment will be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

- Complete servicing, scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs on site and at our yard

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults

- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, braking, steering, suspension and electrical components

- Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections to minimise breakdowns

- Maintain accurate service records, work orders and repair documentation

- Identify and order required parts

- Communicate effectively with operators, suppliers, manufacturers and management

- Work safely and efficiently,



both independently and as part of a team

Essential skills

- Extensive hands-on experience maintaining and repairing CAT and Volvo machinery

- Experience servicing and repairing Challenger tractors

- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems and electrical systems

- Ability to conduct diagnostic testing and identify complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults

- Ability to complete preventative maintenance, servicing and major repairs

- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work autonomously in site and yard environments

- Strong commitment to workplace safety, reliability and teamwork

- Experience with Kenworth, Cummins and Hitachi equipment will be highly regarded

To be considered, you must have

- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification

- A minimum of five years’ relevant experience

- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

- A minimum HC driver’s licence

- Full Australian working rights

- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening

- Proven experience supported by current references
