AQWA – The Aquarium of Western Australia is seeking a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Retail Sales Assistant to join our team. The successful applicant will help provide excellent customer service to our visitors while supporting the day-to-day operation of our retail shop. This role would suit someone with retail sales experience who enjoys working with customers and has an interest in jewellery, gifts and merchandise.
Key responsibilities
- Maximise sales and gross profit.
- Provide professional, friendly and high-quality customer service at all times.
- Operate the computerised cash register and EFTPOS facilities.
- Maintain the presentation, merchandising and cleanliness of the retail area.
- Assist with pricing, displaying and storing merchandise.
- Participate in stocktakes as required.
- Follow all security,
workplace health and safety procedures.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably requested by the Retail Supervisor or Retail Manager.
About you
- Previous retail sales experience, preferably in jewellery and gift lines.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience operating a computerised cash register, EFTPOS facilities and handling cash.
- Good merchandising, display and housekeeping skills.
- Previous retail stocktaking experience.
- Positive problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work across a seven-day roster, including at least alternate weekends (both Saturday and Sunday) and five public holidays per year.
