We are seeking reliable, compassionate and motivated Domestic Assistance Workers to join our community support team.

In this role, you will provide practical household assistance to clients in their own homes, helping them maintain a clean, protected, comfortable and hygienic living environment. Your contribution will support clients to maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life.

You will work with people who may require assistance with everyday household tasks due to age, disability, chronic illness or other life circumstances. By providing consistent, respectful and person-centred support, you will help clients remain in familiar surroundings and continue to live life on their own terms.

Working independently in clients’ homes, you will follow individual support plans and agreed service arrangements, while maintaining effective communication with your coordinator and the wider team

Key responsibilities

- Domestic assistance: Complete household cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning kitchens, bathrooms and other agreed areas of the home.
- Laundry and household tasks: Assist with laundry, changing bed linen, making beds and completing other routine household tasks identified in the client’s support plan.
- Respecting dignity and privacy: Treat clients, their homes and personal belongings with consideration, decency and sensitivity, while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Person-centred support: Provide assistance in a respectful and non-judgemental manner, recognising each client’s individual needs, preferences and right to make choices.
- Communication and reporting: Maintain professional communication with clients, coordinators and colleagues, and promptly report changes in a client’s circumstances, safety concerns or incidents.
- Work health and safety: Follow workplace health and safety procedures,



infection prevention requirements and safe work practices when carrying out household tasks.

Locations: Elsternwick, Caulfield, Bentleigh, Carnegie and the Port Phillip area.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A compassionate, respectful and client-focused approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting people to remain independent in their own homes.
- The ability to work independently, manage time effectively and complete household tasks to a high standard.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and professional relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong sense of responsibility when working in clients’ homes.
- An understanding of the importance of client dignity, privacy, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- The ability to recognise and report changes in clients’ circumstances, hazards, incidents and other concerns.
- The physical capacity to undertake routine domestic cleaning and household tasks safely.
- A willingness to follow individual support plans, organisational policies and procedures, and work health and safety requirements.

Desirable

- Previous experience in domestic assistance, cleaning, aged care, disability support or community services.
- A relevant qualification in disability, aged care, individual support or a related field.

Travel requirements

A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are preferred but not essential. Applicants who live locally and can reliably travel between client appointments using public transport are encouraged to apply.
