We're looking for a friendly, reliable and experienced Barista / Café All-Rounder to join our team at Polly Put the Kettle On, a family-run café in the heart of Marrickville. We're a small, close-knit team who take pride in serving great coffee, delicious food and providing a welcoming atmosphere for our customers. We're looking for someone who is confident behind the coffee machine, enjoys interacting with customers and is happy to get involved in all aspects of the café.
Key responsibilities
Preparing consistently high-quality coffees, hot beverages and cold drinks
Confidently operating the coffee machine independently during busy periods
Taking customer orders and confidently using a POS system
Providing friendly, efficient and attentive customer service
Serving and packaging cakes, pastries and other takeaway items
Preparing and packaging salads and cold food items
Assisting with the presentation, stocking and organisation of the cold food display
Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic workspace
Working collaboratively with the team and assisting wherever needed
About you
Previous barista experience in a busy café setting
Solid coffee-making skills, including milk texturing and coffee extraction
Experience using POS systems and handling customer transactions
Confidence preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages
Good food handling and presentation skills
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude
Willingness to work across different areas of the café
Availability for weekday morning and daytime shifts
