ROLE – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY - $120,000 - $140,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Adelaide, SA

My client designs and manufactures bespoke heavy vehicle equipment. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Adelaide on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
At least 4 years’ experience in Mechanical Design Engineering or a similar role
Previous experience designing heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
Robust experience designing fabricated components, sheet metal and structural steel
Excellent understanding of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes
Experience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings
Solid understanding of fabrication, assembly and design for manufacture
Experience managing design projects from concept through to production
Ability to review designs, solve technical problems and implement design improvements
Experience working closely with manufacturing,



fabrication and project teams
Solid communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to work autonomously and provide technical guidance to other team members

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Leading mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture
Developing detailed 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings
Designing components and assemblies for heavy vehicles and equipment
Reviewing designs to ensure accuracy, quality and manufacturability
Working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams to resolve technical issues
Liaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providers
Maintaining engineering documentation, drawings and BOMs
Supporting prototype builds, testing and design validation
Identifying opportunities for design improvements and manufacturing efficiencies
Providing technical guidance and supporting other members of the design team
Working across a variety of bespoke engineering projects
