Ariston Building & Rural is an importer and distributor of steel and other building materials established in 2008. The company is a mid-sized, family-owned business which is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to provide financial stewardship for it's next growth phase. This role reports to the Managing Director and has a leading role in the management team of the business.

About the role

This role has a strong commercial focus, and must provide solid governance to the management team. Whilst the role has a senior focus, the person must also be hands-on at times. The Financial Controller must also be able to foster positive relations with the management team as well as all other staff.

Key responsibilities
Oversee and assist in all aspects of monthend reporting
Quality management reporting, enabling the management team to recognise the drivers of profitability
Budgeting and forecasting
Cashflow management and reporting, including management of all foreign exchange risk
Responsibility for all banking matters, ensuring finance facilities are adequate and finance cost is minimised
Lead the monthly management team meetings and chair annual strategy planning meetings




Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
Responsibility for all insurances and all aspects of risk management
Payroll and leave management, as well as assistance in recruitment of office roles
Commercial analysis of any opportunities the management team is evaluating
Manage taxation responsibilities, including GST and payroll tax lodgements, and preparation of data for company tax and FBT returns prepared externally
Manage and oversee the various accounting, operational and CRM software programs used by the business

About you
Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce is a must. CA or CPA qualification is desirable
You will have +10 years experience in a commercial/finance role
Robust communication skills and ability to influence decision-making
Positive understanding of cashflow management
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools.
Ability to mentor staff

This is a permanent role based at our office, however for the right candidate we would consider some flexibility.
