You'll be the first dedicated team member in the new online sales and service desk, with the opportunity to help shape how it grows.
This is a hands-on sales role where you'll connect with builders, renovators and homeowners, understand what they need, and help them feel confident about their next purchase.Key responsibilitiesConnect with customers through live chat during rostered hours, aiming to respond within a minuteFollow up overnight enquiries by phone or email before 9amGuide customers with clear, helpful advice on products, specifications, dimensions, finishes, lead times and deliveryProvide freight quotes and delivery timeframes, and arrange delivery when the customer is ready to proceedWork confidently within published pricing and approved promotions, with support from the lead for any exceptionsReach out to shoppers who may benefit from support, including those with larger baskets, repeat visits or active kitchen and bathroom projectsComplete orders in Shopify or through the store whenever you can support the customer from start to finishPrepare quotes for multi-item and project enquiries, and keep customers informed as they make their decisionConnect kitchen, bathroom and larger project customers with the right specialist team, providing a clear brief and staying involved until the handover is completeRecord the outcome of each conversation and capture questions that need further investigation to help improve the website and product informationAbout youTwo or more years selling or advising customers in building supplies, hardware, trade supply,



bathroom or kitchen retail — or a strong record in inside sales where product knowledge matteredThe ability to write quickly, clearly and warmly: most of this job is typed, and you will often hold three conversations at onceComfort reading a price list, a spec sheet and a stock figure, and knowing when a number looks wrongGenuine interest in starting a conversation with a stranger who has not asked you toComposure when a customer is frustrated, and the judgement to know when to elevate rather than improviseDiscipline with the record: tagging every conversation, every time, without being remindedDesirable: Experience on a live chat platform (LiveChat, Zendesk, Gorgias, Intercom or similar)Desirable: Experience with Shopify or another ecommerce platform, and with an ERP such as ProntoDesirable: Trade-facing experience: understanding how a builder or a cabinetmaker buys, and what a quote needs to containDesirable: Working knowledge of bathroom, kitchen or tapware rangesAbout usBuilders Discount Warehouse is an established South East Queensland retailer with locations in Brendale, Slacks Creek and Arundel—and ambitious plans for online and national growth.
