Role Description
The Internal Sales Engineer – Valve & Automation is a full-time, in office role based in Baringa on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. As the Internal Sales Engineer you will be focused on Valve & Automation Products, providing technical and commercial support to customers, external sales teams, distributors and end users. The role focuses on preparing quotations, selecting and sizing valves and actuators, processing orders, managing customer enquiries, and ensuring projects are delivered according to customer specifications and industry standards.
The position serves as the link between customers, engineering, operations, and external sales personnel to ensure accurate product selection, competitive pricing, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to customer enquiries regarding valves, actuators, and automation products.
Prepare and follow up quotations in a timely manner.
Provide technical product recommendations based on customer applications.
Support external sales representatives with technical and commercial information.
Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver high levels of customer service.
Assist customers with product availability, lead times, pricing, and order status.
Technical Engineering Support
Review customer specifications, datasheets, P&IDs;, and project requirements.

Generate technical proposals and product documentation.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer specifications.
Recommend valve automation solutions for process control applications.
Prepare detailed quotations and tenders.
Review RFQs (Requests for Quotation) and project documentation.
Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers for pricing and technical support.
Calculate margins and ensure company profitability targets are achieved.
Track quotation status and conversion rates.
Order Processing & Project Coordination
Convert successful quotations into sales orders.
Coordinate with project management, procurement, warehouse, production, and freight forwarders.
Monitor delivery schedules and address order-related issues.
Provide weekly and monthly production status reports for customers
Ensure all project documentation is complete and accurate.
Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) requirements when applicable.
Product & Market Knowledge
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of:
Instrumentation products
Industry regulations and standards
Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling products.
Participate in product training and manufacturer updates.
Documentation & Administration
Maintain CRM and sales records with the company ERP system and SharePoint project folders.
Maintain quote register and quote follow-ups / revalidation.
Prepare reports on quotations, sales activities, and forecasts.
Manage technical documentation,



drawings, datasheets, and certificates.
Ensure all records comply with company quality procedures.
Typical Duties
Answer technical and sales enquiries via phone and email.
Prepare valve sizing calculations and actuator torque calculations.
Follow up on outstanding quotations.
Carryout contract reviews of purchase orders
Process purchase orders and generate sales orders.
Coordinate with project management, engineering teams and suppliers on lead times and special requirements.
Support external sales visits with technical information when needed
Resolve customer issues related to product selection or delivery.
Generate technical submittals and compliance documentation.
Required Qualifications
Education
Diploma or Degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Process or Chemical Engineering
Or and other related technical discipline
Experience
2-5 years experience in:
Industrial valves and automation
Process control
Instrumentation
Automation products
Technical sales support
Key / Technical Skills
Valve selection and sizing.
Actuator sizing and automation solutions.
Reading tender documents, terms and conditions of contract, P&IDs; and engineering drawings.
Understanding process systems and flow control.
Knowledge of pressure, temperature, and flow calculations.
Cin7 / SAP or similar ERP/CRM software system proficiency.
Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
