Sourdough Kitchen is seeking an experienced
Retail Bakery Manager
to lead our bakery operations at our Seddon, VIC location. This is a
full-time position
that offers the opportunity to manage a dynamic retail bakery environment, overseeing daily operations, staff performance, and customer satisfaction. As Retail Bakery Manager, you will be responsible for driving business success whilst maintaining the highest standards of product quality and customer service. This role is instrumental in establishing Sourdough Kitchen as a leading destination for artisanal baked goods in the local community.
Key responsibilities
Overseeing all daily bakery operations, including production scheduling, inventory management, and food safety compliance
Leading, training, supervising and motivating the bakery team to ensure consistent product quality and excellent customer service
Managing stock levels, ordering supplies and managing waste to optimise profitability and minimise costs
Monitoring sales performance and implementing strategies to achieve targets and increase revenue
Ensuring compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations, including maintaining proper food handling standards
Creating a positive work environment and fostering team cohesion and staff development opportunities
Managing customer relationships and addressing any customer concerns or feedback professionally
Handling cash management, processing transactions and maintaining accurate financial records
Participating in product development and menu planning to maintain a competitive product offering
Opening and closing procedures, including securing premises and equipment
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Bakery Manager or similar supervisory role within a retail or food production environment
Strong knowledge of bakery operations, including production processes, ingredient handling, and product quality standards




Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs and achieve sales targets
Knowledge of health, safety and food hygiene regulations (Certificate in Food Safety is advantageous)
Strong customer service orientation and ability to build positive customer relationships
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
Financial literacy, including experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling
Passion for quality baked goods and understanding of artisanal baking practices
Communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and management
Current Working with Children Check (if applicable) is preferred
