The Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced
Shotfirer
to join the Thiess Drill & Blast Crew at our Olive Downs Complex in the Bowen Basin, located 40 kilometres south-east of Moranbah. The Olive Downs Complex began mining operations in mid-**** and Thiess is delivering a five-year full-service mining contract that includes mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, autonomous load and haul, water management, rehabilitation, and mine infrastructure development.
About The Role
Working a 7/7 day-shift roster, with occasional night-shift requirements (paid at the applicable night-shift rate), and reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
Magazine management and on-site transport of explosives
Managing the loading, tying, and firing of blasts following blast designs
Daily reconciliation and reporting of explosives usage
Assist with training and mentoring of blast crew members
Identifying, communicating and management of hazards within the work area

To be successful in this role you will bring:
A Valid QLD Shotfirer Licence and Drivers' Licence
Current Standard 11




Experience using electronic initiation systems
Demonstrated compliance with safety and a good knowledge of explosive regulations
Operational experience in Mobile Processing Units is preferred
Ability to operate a loader, bobcat and stemming truck is desirable
