We are seeking an experienced and reliable Trackwork Rider to join our thoroughbred racing stable at Eagle Farm, Brisbane. The successful applicant will have a minimum of three years’ experience working within a qualified racing stable, with proven ability in riding young horses and riding timed gallops.

This is a full-time position suited to a skilled and dedicated rider who understands the demands of a thoroughbred racing operation and can contribute to the daily preparation, training and conditioning of racehorses.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Ride thoroughbred racehorses during daily trackwork and training sessions.
- Ride young and inexperienced horses safely and confidently.
- Ride timed gallops and work horses to the trainer’s instructions.
- Be certified by QRIC to ride short and long jump-outs
- Assist with the education, conditioning, and development of racehorses.
- Assess and report on horses’ behaviour, fitness, soundness and performance during trackwork.
- Handle horses safely and responsibly in a professional racing environment.
- Follow stable procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and racing regulations.
- Work cooperatively with trainers, stable staff and other trackwork riders.
- Assist with the general care and handling of horses as required.

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants must demonstrate the following:

- A minimum of three years’ experience working within a thoroughbred racing stable.
- Proven experience riding young horses,



including horses in the early stages of their education and preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to ride timed gallops and follow prescribed training programs.
- Robust riding ability, balance, confidence and control when working with thoroughbred racehorses.
- A sound understanding of horse behaviour, handling and safety.
- Ability to identify and communicate changes in a horse’s performance, behaviour or condition.
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a professional racing team.
- Physical fitness and the ability to undertake the demands of daily trackwork.

Employment Conditions

- Full-time employment.
- Minimum annual salary of AUD $79,000.00 - $85,000.00 plus superannuation.
- Based at Eagle Farm, Brisbane, Queensland.
- Work schedule to meet the operational requirements of the racing stable, including early morning starts and other rostered hours as required.
