About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the team at Zic Service Centre Pty Ltd in Penrith, NSW. This is a full time position based at our workshop located in Penrith NSW 2750. As a Light Vehicle Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing light vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring our customers receive reliable and safe vehicles. This position is central to our commitment to delivering quality automotive services and building long-term customer relationships.

What you'll be doing

- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

- Carrying out routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and belt inspections

- Performing repairs to engines, transmissions, suspension, braking systems and steering components

- Replacing worn or damaged parts with genuine or approved replacement components

- Conducting inspections and safety checks to ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness standards and documenting any repairs that need to be completed

- Documenting work completed and maintaining accurate service records and job sheets

- Communicating with the workshop manager regarding repair requirements and timescales

- Adhering to workshop safety procedures, environmental regulations and quality standards

- Contributing to the efficiency of the workshop by managing time effectively and organising work priorities

What we're looking for

- A recognised automotive qualification in light vehicle mechanical repair. Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Welcome, 3rd or 4th year apprentice may be considered





- Proven experience working as a light vehicle mechanic, ideally within a service centre or dealership environment

- Competency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, suspension, electrical and braking systems

- Ability to read and interpret workshop manuals, technical diagrams and service specifications

- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship

- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers

- A valid driver's licence and willingness to undertake test drives when necessary

- A commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health and safety regulations

- Physical fitness and the ability to work in various positions and lift heavy components

- A problem-solving mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
