SAG Workforce are recruiting on behalf of an established, family-owned Queensland builder delivering projects across hospitality, education, commercial and specialist care sectors.
Their work includes fitouts, refurbishments and upgrades, often within live environments where careful planning, clear communication and quality workmanship are essential.
This prospect suits a carpenter or experienced finishing tradesperson who has developed strong site leadership skills and is ready to take greater responsibility, with support from an experienced Project Manager.
About the role
You'll initially take ownership of smaller projects, building towards managing sites with project values of approximately $5-6 million.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll coordinate day-to-day site delivery while remaining hands-on when required. Projects extend from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast, with the business based in Brisbane.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating subcontractors, trades, deliveries and daily site activities.
- Planning work sequences and maintaining short-term construction programmes.
- Reading drawings, coordinating set-outs and checking work against specifications.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
- Managing works around clients, staff and the public in live environments.
- Conducting inductions, toolbox talks and subcontractor meetings.
- Maintaining site records and reporting progress, issues and resource requirements to the Project Manager.
- Getting on the tools when needed to support progress and maintain quality.
About you
You're practical, organised and confident directing trades. You take pride in your work, build strong subcontractor relationships and are ready to be accountable for your own site.
We're looking for:
- A trade background, preferably carpentry, with linings,
joinery or other relevant finishing trades also considered.
- Approximately 3-5 years coordinating trades on commercial sites as a leading hand, second-in-charge, site supervisor or foreman.
- Recent Australian commercial construction experience.
- Experience with fitouts, refurbishments or works in occupied environments.
- Confidence using Procore, HammerTech or similar site management systems.
- Professional presentation, a team-focused approach and a willingness to take feedback.
- A work history that demonstrates reliability and commitment.
You don't need to have delivered an entire project independently yet. If you've been a capable leading hand or second-in-charge and are ready to step up, we want to hear from you.
Licences and requirements
- Current driver's licence and Construction White Card.
- Full Australian working rights; sponsorship is unavailable.
- Previous First Aid and CPR training—refreshers provided if required.
- Blue Card preferred, although not essential to be considered for an interview.
- Willingness to complete a police check and drug and alcohol testing.
- Your own basic hand and small tools kit; larger tools and site equipment are supplied.
What's on offer
- $120,000-$140,000 base salary + super, depending on experience.
- Company ute with private use.
- A clear development pathway towards Site Manager.
- Company-funded training, tickets and relevant refresher courses.
- Support from an experienced Project Manager as you build confidence running projects.
- Varied commercial work and the opportunity to grow your responsibilities.
