Diesel Fitter / Diesel Mechanic - Townsville
$70,112 - $86,877 + Super + Leave Loading + Allowances

This position offers a combination of workshop and field service work, supporting the maintenance, servicing and breakdown repair of a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, civil construction equipment and ancillary machinery. Occasional travel will be required, with LAHA provided where applicable.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Complete servicing and preventative maintenance activities
- Diagnose and repair breakdowns in both workshop and field environments
- Service and maintain crew trucks and paint trucks
- Maintain and repair civil construction equipment, including:
- Rollers
- Excavators
- Backhoes

- Service and repair small engines and ancillary equipment
- Complete maintenance documentation and inspection reports
- Work safely and effectively as part of a maintenance team

Essential Requirements

- Completion of an apprenticeship in a mechanical trade,



such as a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent trade qualification.
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship
- Current White Card
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical
- Willingness to travel throughout the region and state as required

Highly Regarded

- HR Driver Licence
- LF Forklift Licence
- Refrigerant Handling Licence
- Experience working on:
- Civil construction equipment
- Road maintenance machinery
- Heavy vehicles and trucks
- Earthmoving and mobile plant

- Additional plant, machinery or heavy vehicle licences and tickets
- Protech will consider the relevance of other qualifications you may hold to the Mechanical Tradesperson position and review possible learning pathways to obtain:

- AUR 31120 Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology; or
- MEM 31419 Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic
