Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Co. Ltd is dedicated to advancing health and well-being services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We advocate for culturally appropriate healthcare and work closely with community leaders to ensure Aboriginal voices are heard.
The Opportunity
Providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their children, to strengthen the family relationship and support the family to remain together. This role has a primary objective of making a significant and sustainable impact on reducing the need for statutory child protection intervention with families.
To ensure that what you know about local families is used to find support for the family in each community
To increase their knowledge and understanding of local cultural traditions, family groups and history
To ensure that every chance is given for children and families to stay together and be happy and healthy
To find links and pathways that are secure and supportive for children and families
Cultural Competency is highly desirable though training will be provided to the successful applicant.
Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention
Basic knowledge of Child Protection in Queensland and the challenges and chances it gives families
High level ability to communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people effectively and with sensitivity
Demonstrated organisational, conflict management and time management skills
About you
Present oneself in a professional manner, exhibiting friendliness, courtesy, and a willingness to assist when interacting with community members and colleagues.
Must haves:
Current Blue Card Holder or Willingness to apply for Blue Card
Current Drivers Licence
Cultural Competency would be highly desirable
