The opportunity
Are you a physio who’s ready to start leading? We’re looking for a Physiotherapist to join our fast-growing aged care team, with a planned path into a Team Leader role.
Full time, based mainly in Kincumber, NSW, with regular visits to our other sites in the area.
Most of your week will go on your own residential aged care caseload. Alongside that, we’ll gradually give you leadership responsibilities, such as mentoring junior physios and helping new starters settle in. We’ll also support you to learn the operational side of running aged care services. You won’t be thrown in the deep end. You’ll have a structured pathway, regular coaching from our Aged Care Operations team, and clear milestones to work towards.
About Optimum
We’re a team of 85+ allied health professionals across NSW and QLD. We work in residential aged care, home visits and workplace health, and run 6 of our own clinics and gyms.
Things you’ll be doing
Clinical
- Managing a residential aged care caseload, including AN-ACC pain management programs, falls prevention classes and post-fall reviews
- Assessing residents in line with the Aged Care Standards and AN-ACC
- Building and progressing rehab and exercise programs
- Working with the wider allied health team, nursing staff and GPs to coordinate care
- Delivering manual handling training
Building your leadership skills
- Mentoring junior physios and students, with support from your manager
- Helping with onboarding and induction for current team members
- Learning to track KPIs, productivity and service quality across sites
- Joining case conferences and building working relationships with facility managers
- Taking on more responsibility as your confidence grows, such as rosters, site visits and clinical audits
Skills needed
- A physiotherapy degree and current AHPRA registration
- Around 3 years’ clinical experience. Aged care experience is a strong advantage.
- An interest in leadership and in helping other clinicians grow
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents, families and facility staff
- A working knowledge of AN-ACC and the Aged Care Standards, or a willingness to learn quickly
- A valid police check or NDIS worker screening check
- A valid driver’s licence
No formal leadership experience is needed. If you’ve informally mentored a new grad, supervised a student or been the go-to person on your team, we want to hear from you.
The benefits
- Full-time role on a base salary depending on experience
- A structured pathway into Team Leader, then on to Area Manager
- Regular 1:1 coaching and leadership development
- A supportive multidisciplinary team where your ideas are heard
